- Focus on digital transformation of the entire company
- Highly automated processes in focus
(powercloud, Offenburg / EWII, Kolding, 28.04.2021) A milestone for the international growth strategy of powercloud: In addition to new customers acquired in Australia and Italy, the Danish EWII Group also opted for powercloud. The two partners signed the cooperation agreement and kicked off the project in mid-February – just four months after having the first phone call. In times of social distancing and video conferencing, this is an enormous achievement. The go-live of the platform is planned for beginning of 2022.
“The decision to go with powercloud is based on our long-term strategy to become a state-of-the-art solution provider for the energy future of the Danish Triangle region around Vejle, Kolding, Fredericia, Middelfart and Vejen,” explains Olaf Spliid, Chief Financial Officer of EWII. “Providing sustainable energy is our daily work. Finally, we want to offer our customers a great experience, modern end-to-end solutions, cross-selling and bundling of products and much more offers that are as precisely tailored to customer preferences as possible – and we do so with the ambition of an innovator who quickly adopts to technological developments. For these tasks, powercloud is an ideal partner. In the near future, we will benefit from standardized processes, much lower costs and new source of revenue.”
The trend continues: More and more regional utilities are using powercloud – as large utilities did before. All EWII services will thus be offered and billed via powercloud in the future. The company will benefit from highly automated processes for e.g. billing, termination, start of delivery as well as from free format adjustments due to new legal and regulatory requirements. In the future, product managers at EWII will only need a few clicks to design a billable product in a fully automated manner and publish it ad hoc on the market. “On this basis, we are massively driving digital transformation of the entire company” summarizes Olaf Spliid.
As in other countries, powercloud can also rely on strong partners in Northern Europe: each implementation is carried out in cooperation with external experts who, on the one hand, know the local markets precisely and, on the other hand, bring a lot of technical expertise to the table. “With the commitment of EWII, powercloud starts its international expansion in Northern Europe. Thus, we see the long-term collaboration with our partners as a great opportunity for all parties involved, because the energy industry in Scandinavia is also changing at a rapid pace: switching rates of customers are increasing, energy start-ups are entering the market, and new digital business models are emerging”, emphasizes Lukas Winter, Sales Manager Nordics. “Over the next few years, we want to jointly help all Scandinavian utilities respond to this critical situation.”
A major advantage in this context is the fast implementation process of powercloud. It uses standardized best-practice modules, a modern integration layer, ready-made adapters, and apps from the own powerApp Store, which contains over 80 own and partner-generated apps. With powerApps, additional functions and business models can be integrated into powercloud very easily. And powercloud always contributes to market-specific criteria: software localizations to new target markets are a top priority at powercloud.
Over 200 customers are already using the powercloud platform to manage some 8 million contracts involving a turnover of over 6 billion euros in settlements. “Regional utilities in particular are becoming increasingly important to us, since they bring with them all the requirements for the energy market of the future,” says Marco Beicht, founder and CEO of powercloud GmbH. “There is thus a differentiated product portfolio in place, for example, which includes both the traditional energy offering but also regional offerings and services. But it will be vital in future that these can be easily bundled, marketed and charged for. And that’s exactly what powercloud wants to provide to EWII.”
“It’s just a great collaboration between EWII, powercloud and all partners. There is a joint understanding on how to innovate the energy industry in Denmark – proven by the fact that this was all made possible in just half a year. Even in times of a pandemic, progress in digitization can be made, if all team members share the same digital mind-set and pragmatism. As a team, all parties are convinced that we are strengthening our regional footprint and market share”, Olaf Spliid is convinced.
