(powercloud, Offenburg, 21/10/2020) A successful partnership: Moving forward, the IT platform of powercloud will be further expanded at energy provider E.ON.
Currently, one million E.ON customers have already migrated to the new system landscape. For its part, powercloud handles all energy-related processes and the billing of electricity and natural gas customers. The successful path that the project has charted is trend-setting: For the coming years, E.ON and powercloud have agreed to migrate almost all sales customers to the powercloud on a step-by-step basis. Several million end-customer relationships will move from existing systems to the new IT platform by the end of 2021.
Cloud solution with powercloud—national and international
Powercloud by no means stops at national borders: international customers are to also be included in the migration. The first foreign project of powercloud is slated to get underway this year. Jens Kallrath, Head of Business IT Customer Solutions at E.ON Energie Deutschland, is looking forward to the possibilities that the new digital platform will offer:
“powercloud is an important part of our IT digitization strategy and provides us with a modern and flexible cloud platform to offer our customers the best possible service. The first migration wave has shown us that in choosing to go with the powercloud platform, we’ve made the right decision.”
Open SaaS solution as a competitive advantage and digitization propeller
As part of the platform-based offer, powercloud assumes responsibility for recurring, non-value-adding tasks. An example includes carrying out format changes and adjustments as regularly required by the regulator due to other legal requirements (e.g. from the energy transition). This allows utilities like E.ON to focus their own IT resources on the systems to further improve customer service and make new offers possible. In addition, a large number of powercloud apps are now available that include modules for electromobility, customer portals, procurement tools, and more.
powercloud has become an essential component of the energy industry. Marco Beicht, Founder and CEO of powercloud, gives a positive interim assessment: “The cooperation with E.ON counts as the next important step for us. Our exponential company growth in 2020 and the increasing number of migration projects set the course for sustainable growth and an expansion of our role as an innovator and technology leader in the industry.”
